Xavier Subirats is the Managing Partner at AMSEL Assessors. His work centres on corporate governance, management control and business reporting, taxation and corporate finance. He regularly advises Spanish family-owned companies and Spanish subsidiaries of international Italian, French and British companies. As an external advisor, he attends Board of Directors meetings in the food, food service and hospitality sectors, and he sits in on management committees for companies in the fields of fashion, distribution, professional services, graphic arts and publishing. He manages corporate information for water supply and agriculture companies. He also has extensive experience in advising international and Spanish companies in the area of corporate transactions.
Xavier Subirats is a member of the Permanent Committee of the Catalan Association of Economists, a member of the Board of Directors of the Catalan Association of Accounting and Management (ACCID), Chairman of the Spanish Register of Accounting Experts, a member of the Board of Directors of Spanish Accountants and Economists and the Spanish General Council of Economists, and forms part of the working group on CSR and Integrated Reports. He has also served as Treasurer of the Catalan Association of Economists.
He gives regular lectures on corporate governance and business reporting, and has published academic articles relating to these fields. He was the first Spaniard to receive International Business Communication Standards (IBCS®) accreditation. In 2016, one of his corporate report designs was awarded the “Best Practices in Financial Information” prize at the seventh Catalan Conference on Accounting and Management.
His key experience includes offering advice on corporate transactions:
Waiver of rights for distribution in Spain, Andorra and Portugal for Superdry PLC.
Sale of a majority stake in MESSA shares to Gas Natural.
Sale of 100% of Centre Geriatric Can Boada to a business group in the geriatric care sector.
Sale of 100% of Cinesi Transport to TUSGSAL.
Sale of 33% of the shares of a company in the textile industry.
Creation of Assolim Alimentaria Food Services through the integration of HIMSA and Solé Hermanos.
Shareholding restructuring at Trendytex.
Acquisition of one of Ako’s business units by Tracelec.
Establishment of a subsidiary in Belgium for a fashion/retail group.
Constitution and subsequent divestment of a subsidiary in Portugal for a graphic arts group.
Shareholding structuring for industrial family-owned companies.
Negotiations for the acquisition a Greek business group by a Spanish business group.
His key experience in corporate governance includes attending the meetings of governing bodies in the food, food service distribution and tourism industries. In the area of management structure, he attends management committees in the fields of graphic arts, fashion, retail, professional services, crowdfunding platforms, distribution and publishing.
